I was watching a TED Talk today by Brené Brown, and I had an ah-ha moment. I don’t remember now exactly what she was talking about, something about believing ourselves worthy of love and belonging, of connection and acceptance with others. And I realized our first UU principle applies to our selves as well as others.
The inherent worth and dignity of all people. WE are inherently worthy and dignified. I have worth and dignity. I am enough.
It hasn’t sunk in yet, and I’m not sure how it will manifest itself in my life, but I’m going to think of this more and how it relates to my focus on being committed. Among other things I must commit to finding and feeling my worth among humankind if I am to strengthen my connection to the web of life of which we are all a part.
